Consumer goods - shohizai (English spelling) consumption goods

A consumer good is a good that directly satisfies a human desire. Consumer goods are divided into single-use goods (consumable goods) that are consumed after one use, such as food and fuel, and durable consumer goods that are used repeatedly, such as cars and stereos. While producer goods are used in the production process and are called intermediate goods, consumer goods are final products that are ultimately intended for consumption and are called final goods. This distinction between producer goods and consumer goods is not based on the attributes of the goods, so the same good, such as oil, is a producer good if it is used as fuel or raw material in factories, and a consumer good if it is used for heating in homes. Services that have the characteristics of consumer goods include education and medical care.

人間の欲望を直接に満足させる財をいう。消費財には食料・燃料などのように一度の使用で消費されてしまう単用財（消耗財）と、自動車・ステレオなどのように繰り返して使用される耐久消費財との区別がある。生産財が生産過程において使用され中間財とよばれるのに対して、最終的に消費を目的とする最終生産物である消費財は最終財とよばれる。この生産財と消費財の区分は、財の属性による区分ではないので、同じ財でも、たとえば石油などのように、工場で燃料や原料として使われれば生産財となり、家庭で暖房用に使われれば消費財となる。消費財の性質をもつサービスに教育・医療などのサービスがある。
