Reverse blocking three terminal thyristor

...Thyristors are of many types, but the most commonly used type is the reverse blocking three-terminal thyristor known as SCR (silicon controlled rectifier), which is often simply called a thyristor.

The reverse blocking three-terminal thyristor has a p-n-p-n four-layer structure as shown in Figure 1. It can also be seen as equivalent to the circuit in Figure 2, in which two transistors are connected.
