〘noun〙① A thing that is the object of a subject's will or action. Also, material or natural things other than the human mind. Object. Objective. Customer. ⇔Subject. kyaku-tai [object]

〘noun〙 Something that is the object of a subject's will or action. The object upon which will or action extends. Object. ⇔Subject. [Jirin (1907 edition)] *Kanmimimoku (1908) <Shibukawa Genji> Miyakodori and legal issues "It is a matter that can be understood immediately if you consider what the legal subject and object (kyakutai) are." [Additional note] "Objective" refers to the object toward which the cognitive function is primarily directed, and "object" refers to the object toward which action is primarily directed.

きゃく‐たい【客体】

〘名〙 主体の意志や行為の対象となる物。意志や行為が及ぶ目的物。かくたい。⇔主体。〔辞林(明治四〇年版)(1907)〕※閑耳目(1908)〈渋川玄耳〉都鳥と法律問題「法律上の主体客体(キャクタイ)如何の事に考を及ぼせば直く了解する問題なり」[補注]「客観」は主に認識作用が向けられる対象をいい、「客体」は主に行動が向けられる対象をいう。
