Bowl-shaped

Japanese: 鉢形 - はちがた
Bowl-shaped
A district of Yorii-machi in northwest Saitama Prefecture. It is located on the south bank of the Arakawa River and contains the ruins of Hachigata Castle. Hachigata Castle is a flatland castle surrounded by the valley of the Fukazawa River, a tributary of the Arakawa River, and the cliffs of the Arakawa River behind it. It was built by Nagao Kageharu in the Middle Ages, but later returned to the Hojo clan, and was captured by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's army in Tensho 18 (1590). The ruins, which retain the form of a mountain castle, are a historic site.
