Rurikei

A valley in Nantan City, western Kyoto Prefecture. It is also written as Rurikei. It is a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty. It is located in the upper reaches of the Sonobe River, a tributary of the Oi River, and has strangely shaped rocks and deep abysses stretching for about 4 kilometers, making it part of the Kyoto Prefectural Rurikei Natural Park. There are many cherry trees and maples, and upstream is the artificial lake, Lake Tsuten. It is located on a plateau 500 meters above sea level, so it is also used as a summer resort. There is a bus service from JR Sanin Main Line Sonobe Station.

京都府西部、南丹(なんたん)市にある渓谷。瑠璃渓(るりけい)とも記す。国指定名勝。大堰(おおい)川の支流園部川の上流部で、約4キロメートルにわたって奇岩、深淵(しんえん)があり、府立るり渓自然公園に指定されている。サクラ、モミジが多く、上流には人造湖の通天(つうてん)湖がある。標高500メートルの高原にあるため避暑にも利用されている。JR山陰本線園部駅からバスの便がある。
