Strange web - Kimou

...Around the vertebrae, a blood vessel-rich blood muscle develops, stimulating metabolism. Heat generated by metabolism is stored in the body without being released into the surrounding water by a rete mirage (a network of tiny arteries and veins) that runs parallel to the blood muscle. This means that unlike ordinary fish, they can maintain a body temperature much higher than the surrounding water, which allows various metabolisms to be carried out quickly and allows them to live an active life, with the fastest swimming speed of any fish (said to be 100km/h).
