...The predecessor of Kamakura Bunko was a rental bookstore opened during the war by writers living in Kamakura, including Kume Masao, Kawabata Yasunari, and Takami Jun, who brought together their books. After World War II, the company partnered with a paper company to become a publishing company, which moved to Tokyo and was once very active in publishing. In particular, Ningen, with Kimura Tokuzo as editor-in-chief, provided a platform for many new writers and played a major role in the birth of postwar literature. After the parent company went bankrupt, the publisher moved to Meguro Shoten in January 1950, but it ceased publication with the August 1951 issue. ...
