Tokutaro Kimura

Japanese: 木村篤太郎 - きむらとくたろう

1886-1982 A politician and lawyer in the Showa era.
Born on February 7, 1886. In 1946, he was promoted from lawyer to Prosecutor General. He was Minister of Justice in the first and third Yoshida Cabinets, the first Director-General of the National Safety Agency in 1952, and the first Director-General of the Defense Agency in 1954. He promoted the establishment of security legislation and advocated rearmament. In 1951, he became President of the First Tokyo Bar Association, and in 1953, he became a member of the House of Councillors (elected twice, Liberal Democratic Party). He passed away on August 8, 1982, at the age of 96. He was from Nara Prefecture. He graduated from Tokyo Imperial University.

明治19年2月7日生まれ。昭和21年弁護士から検事総長となる。第1・第3次吉田内閣の法相,27年初代保安庁長官,29年初代防衛庁長官。治安立法制定をすすめ,再軍備を主張した。26年第一東京弁護士会会長,28年参議院議員(当選2回,自民党)。昭和57年8月8日死去。96歳。奈良県出身。東京帝大卒。
