Masao Ohya

Japanese: 大矢正夫 - おおや まさお
Masao Ohya
1863-1928 A freedom and civil rights activist from the Meiji period.
Born on November 6, 1860. He worked as an elementary school teacher and moved to Tokyo where he met Fukuda Eiko, Tomatsu Masayasu and others. He participated in Oi Kentaro's plan for Korean independence from China, and was arrested in connection with the Osaka Incident in 1885, receiving a six-year prison sentence. He passed away on July 13, 1928, at the age of 66. He was born in Sagami (Kanagawa Prefecture).

文久3年11月6日生まれ。小学校教員をつとめ,上京して福田英子,富松正安(とまつ-まさやす)らを知る。大井憲太郎の清(しん)(中国)からの朝鮮独立運動計画に参加,明治18年大阪事件にかかわり逮捕され,禁固6年の刑をうけた。昭和3年7月13日死去。66歳。相模(さがみ)(神奈川県)出身。
