Functional Morphology - Yesterday's Morphology

...This is an approach that seeks to elucidate the mechanisms of morphogenesis by subjecting animals to experimental manipulation during their development, and can be said to have a strong physiological character. Functional morphology, which has attracted attention in relatively recent years, aims to elucidate the functions, especially mechanical functions, of a certain part of an organism as a whole, and is also strongly physiological in character. In contrast to physiology, it can generally be said that morphology is more independent on a macroscopic level and more descriptive, while morphology is more closely related to physiological and biochemical phenomena on a microscopic level and more experimental.
