This is a collection of writings by Kang Gyong, a Korean civil servant of the Yi Dynasty, who secretly reported on the internal affairs of Japan to his home government. He was captured when Toyotomi Hideyoshi invaded Korea in 1598 and imprisoned in Fushimi, Kyoto. He recorded his conversations with Fujiwara Seika at Shokoku-ji Temple in Kyoto and the Mimizuka mound at Hoko-ji Temple in Kyoto, and many other interesting contents that give insight into Japan at that time. Upon returning to Korea in 1600, Kang Gyong titled this collection of writings Kinsharoku (Records of the Chariot), claiming to be a criminal, but his disciples named it Kanyangroku (Records of the Watching Sheep), in reference to the integrity of Su Wu of the Han dynasty, and passed it down to posterity.
