After the war, he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, but was released on parole in 1955. His diary, written between 1930 and 1948, is a detailed record of the activities of the ruling class (especially the conflict between the Imperial Court and the military), and was submitted as evidence to the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. ...In subsequent political upheavals, the Minister of the Interior, Kido, presided over similar senior statesmen's conferences. The minutes of these conferences are detailed in Kido's records (Kido Koichi's Diary). When the Pacific War began, at the Emperor's initiative, a conference of senior government officials was held at the Imperial Palace on November 29th, gathering the former Prime Minister and the President of the Privy Council, and the Emperor then directly heard the opinions of the senior statesmen.
