A disease of cattle, buffaloes, and horses. It is a notifiable infectious disease, and the pathogens include the causative agents of babesiosis, such as Babesia bigemina , B. bovis , and B. argentina , as well as the causative agents of theileria disease, such as Theileria parva and T. annulata . Both babesiosis and theileria disease are infectious diseases caused by the proliferation of protozoa within red blood cells, resulting in fever, anemia, and jaundice.
