Chrysippos (English spelling)
[Born] Around 280 BC. Cilicia Soroi
[Died] c. 206 BC Greek philosopher, third head of the Stoic school. He went to Athens to study under Zeno and Cleanthes, and at the Middle Academy under Arcesilaus and others, honing his talent as a dialecticist. He was probably the only Stoic with a genuine academic interest in pure logic, and he organized the logical theories that came before him and built the foundations of propositional logic. He wrote over 700 treatises, but only fragments remain.
