Legendary Song - Densetsuka

A common name for a group of poems that appear in the Manyoshu. There are two types: poems that are themselves part of a legend, such as the poem about the Sakurago legend in Volume 16 of the Manyoshu, and poems that are reminiscent of a legend written by a poet, but it is necessary to distinguish between the two. 《万葉集》にみえる一群の歌の通称。《万葉集》巻十六の桜児（さくらご）伝説の歌などそれ自体が伝説の一部である歌と，歌人が伝説に触れて発した詠懐の歌との二つのタイプがあるが，両者は区別して考える必要がある。万葉歌人の中でも高橋虫麻呂の伝説詠懐歌4編(水江浦島子（みずのえのうらのしまこ）(浦島太郎)，上総末珠名（かみつふさのすえのたまな），勝鹿真間娘子（かつしかのままおとめ）(真間手児名（てこな）)，菟原処女（うないおとめ）の伝説。
