Kitsuki Castle Town

Japanese: 杵築城下 - きつきじょうか
Kitsuki Castle Town

...Tourist attractions include the well-preserved old castle town, Nada Beach, and Sumiyoshi Beach.
[Kitsuki Castle Town]
It was originally written as "Kitsuki," but in 1712 (Shotoku 2) the shogunate issued a red seal document stating it was "Kitsuki Territory, Bungo Province," and this was changed. In the Middle Ages, it was the castle of the Kitsuki clan, a branch of the Otomo clan, but in 1593 (Bunroku 2) the clan was destroyed, and in 1600 (Keicho 5) it became the territory of Hosokawa Tadaoki, with Matsui Yasuyuki and Ariyoshi Tateyuki as castle lords.
