Year of death: January 15, Genroku 10 (February 6, 1697) Year of birth: Keian 1 (1648) A haiku poet and waka scholar of the early Edo period. His childhood name was Kyūtarō. His given names were Kijun and Kijū. He was the son of Kitamura Kigin. Under his father's guidance, he published Zoku San'i in 1667. His circle of contact was wide, including members of the Teimon, Danrin and Shomon schools. After his father moved to Shintamatsushima Shrine, he stayed in the main house and presided over the Haikai-dō. In waka studies, he played the role of his father's assistant in the drafting and publication of Hyakunin Isshu Juhosho. In 1689, he moved to Edo when his father began working in waka studies.
