...One of those students was J. F. Dulles, the eldest son of a Presbyterian minister who later became Secretary of State. During the Civil War, the Presbyterian Church split into the Northern and Southern Presbyterian Churches over the issue of emancipation, but they are currently working to reunite. Together, the two churches have about 3 million members, which is not a large number, but they have a significant cultural and social influence in America.
