...In 1988, the astronomy-related operations of the former Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of the Navy were integrated to form the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory, which was established in Iikura, Azabu, and moved to Mitaka in 1924, where it remains to this day. After World War II, the Norikura Corona Observatory was built in 1949, the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory in 1960, the Dodaira Observatory in 1962, the Nobeyama Solar Radio Observatory in 1969, the Kiso Observatory in 1974, and the Nobeyama Space Radio Observatory in 1978. The 188 cm reflecting telescope in Okayama, the 105 cm Schmidt telescope in Kiso, and the 45 m space radio telescope in Nobeyama are also available for joint use throughout the country. ...

…88年には旧内務省および海軍省の天文関係の業務を統合して，麻布飯倉の地に東京天文台が設立され，1924年には三鷹に移転して現在に至っている。第2次大戦後，乗鞍コロナ観測所が49年，岡山天体物理観測所が60年，堂平観測所が62年，野辺山太陽電波観測所が69年，木曾観測所が74年，さらに野辺山宇宙電波観測所が78年に相次いで付属施設として建設された。岡山の188cm反射望遠鏡，木曾の105cmシュミット望遠鏡および野辺山の45m宇宙電波望遠鏡などは全国の共同利用にも供されている。…
