...A Shan dynasty called Awa or Inwa in Burmese. 1287-1555. Sometimes also referred to as the Nyaungyan dynasty (1605-1752), the successor to the Taungoo dynasty. Three Shan chieftains who abolished the Pagan dynasty repelled invasions during the Tatak era (1297-1307) of the Yuan Dynasty, and established two royal lines, building palaces in Pingya in 1312 and Sagaing in 1315. Both dynasties were limited to central Myanmar along the Irrawaddy River, but in the north, tribes such as the Mao Shan and the Mongyin Shan ruled over the area, while in the south, the Mon Hunterwaddy dynasty had a stable influence. ...
