A landlord who rents out land to tenant farmers and collects rent from them, but does not actually farm the land himself. This term refers to landlords who lived before and after the 1946 land reform. 〘名〙 小作農民に土地を貸して小作料を取り立てるだけで、自分では農事にたずさわらない地主。昭和二一年(一九四六)の農地改革以後、それ以前の地主についていう。
