A play. Three acts. Based on the rakugo story Shibahama. The first dramatization was performed in February 1903 at the Tokyo Ichimuraza Theater, by the Shinpa actors Ii Yoho and Kawai Takeo, entitled Earn Money and Save. Then in February 1947, at the Ichimuraza Theater, the adaptation by Takeshiba Kinsaku II was performed by Onoe Kikugoro VI. This time, the title was Shibahama Leather Wallet. The cast included Kikugoro VI as Uoya Masagoro, Sawamura Munenosuke as the wife Otatsu, and others. Kikugoro's detailed modern direction and realism made it a new type of live-action kyogen. After this, many versions were performed by the Zenshinza Theater's duo Segawa Kikunojo and Kawarazaki Kunitaro, and it has become established as a popular and entertaining second kyogen.

戯曲。3幕。原作は落語の《芝浜》。最初の劇化は1903年2月東京市村座で，新派の伊井蓉峰と河合武雄が口立てで《稼げばたまる》と題して上演した。ついで22年2月市村座で，2世竹柴金作の脚色を6世尾上菊五郎が上演。このとき《芝浜革財布》と題した。配役は，魚屋政五郎を6世菊五郎，女房お辰を沢村宗之助ほか。菊五郎の細緻な近代的演出とリアリズムで新しい生世話狂言となった。こののち，前進座の瀬川菊之丞，河原崎国太郎のコンビによるものも多く行われ，大衆的で娯楽性の豊かな二番目狂言として定着している。
