Furthermore, when pollen from another plant is given to a plant, the fruit may develop without fertilization due to the stimulation of pollination (called pseudofertilization). This has now been found between eggplant and petunia, tomato and eggplant, cucumber and pumpkin, and other plants, and there are hopes that it will be put to practical use.
