Hair rest - Kamioki

Japanese: 髪置 - かみおき
Hair rest - Kamioki
〘Noun〙① A ceremony for infants when they grow out their hair for the first time. During the Edo period, it was often held on November 15th for nobles at the age of two, and for samurai and commoners at the age of three, but the date was not necessarily consistent. In the Ogasawara school, for example, the child is covered with white hair, powdered with white powder on the top, and combed three times on both sides of the temples to pray for good health and long life. Even today, it remains as a "celebration for Shichigosan" along with boys wearing hakama and girls undoing their obi. Hair stand. [Season: Winter] *Kanmon Goki - December 3, 1422 (29th year of Oei) "The princess (the third princess) is given a hair arrangement and dressed in a special way , as is the custom in Shibadono-yaku." ② During the Edo period, monks would wear false temples when making pilgrimages to Ise. ※Miscellaneous haiku, Yanagi Taru-25 (1794) “Hair is left in Ise and sleeves are tied up with high rope.” ③ The part at the back center of the collar of a karaginu (traditional Chinese garment) where the hanging hair (suihatsu) fits.
