Lure hook - Gijibari

Japanese: 擬餌針 - ぎじばり
Lure hook - Gijibari
A type of fishing bait made to resemble live bait. It is usually attached to the fishhook. It is made from bird feathers, animal horns, pufferfish or mackerel skin, vinyl, metal pieces such as lead, tin, or copper, plastic, or rubber, and is moved to make it look alive and attract fish. For river fishing, such as for minnows or dace, hooks made to resemble insects, called hair or mosquito hooks, are used. For sea fishing, tin, lead, or animal horns are used to make small fish or shrimp, with vinyl or fish skin stretched over them. As fishing has become more of a sport, the variety of hooks has increased.
