…Wei Shuanghou's great-grandson Wei Hao (Gikou, ?-1774), also lived in Kyoto for about 10 years around 1770 (Meiwa 7), where he trained more than 100 disciples and gained the support of aristocrats and feudal lords. The Wei Shi Music Sheet, published in Edo, Kyoto and Osaka in 1768, includes 50 of the 200 or so pieces that had been handed down. Many of his short pieces, such as He Sheng Chao, have a strong Gagaku flavor and the opening tune is the same note as the final note. …
