A dynasty in North India (c. 72 BCE to c. 28 CE). It was founded by Vasudeva, a minister of the Shunga dynasty, who overthrew the last king of the Shunga dynasty, which replaced the Maurya dynasty. According to the Puranas, it was overthrown by the Satavahana dynasty after 45 years of rule by four generations of kings, but the details are unknown.
