…During the Nanboku-cho civil war, after Shioya Takasada had fallen due to deepening conflict with the Muromachi Shogunate, the position of Shugo was passed down to the Sasaki Kyogoku clan under Kyogoku Takaaki after the Meitoku War (1391), through Sasaki Doyo, the Yamana clan, and others. Shugo Takaaki appointed his relative Amago Mochihisa as Shugodai and sent him to Izumo, where he placed him in Tomita Castle and worked to control the local lords and local feudal lords. However, his control over the territory did not go beyond a very loose control of the local lords, and his appeasement measures for the local lords, such as exempting them from danzen, instead led to their independence and secession. …
