Spongicola

Japanese: Spongicola
Spongicola

...General term for marine sponges of the Euplectellidae family of the class Hexactinellidae. A pair of small shrimp ( Spongicola ), usually male and female, are usually housed in the stomach cavity of this sponge, and since this is where they live their whole lives, the name Kairo Do-ken (living together, growing old together, and being buried together when they die) was given to them. They are found in Sagami Bay, Suruga Bay, Tosa Bay, etc., and stand upright by sticking a bundle of root hair-like bone fragments into the seabed at a depth of 100 to 1000 meters.
