Yellow baboon

It is an animal of the Cercopithecidae family of the Primates class of Mammalia. It is found in the area from Angola to Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, and Somalia. Its body color is yellowish brown. It has long limbs and a slender body, but males can weigh 50 kilograms and reach a body length of 100 centimeters. Females are small. It lives on the ground in the savanna or sparse forest, and feeds on grains and roots of the Grass family, leaves and nuts, insects, and young antelopes. It forms multi-male groups of 40 to 100 individuals. It is sometimes called the savanna baboon, including the Doguera baboon and the Chacma baboon.

哺乳(ほにゅう)綱霊長目オナガザル科の動物。アンゴラからモザンビーク、タンザニア、ケニア、ソマリアに至る地域に分布する。体色は黄色みを帯びた褐色。四肢が長く、体つきはほっそりとしているが、雄は体重50キログラム、体長100センチメートルになるものがある。雌は小形である。サバンナや疎開林内の地上で生活し、イネ科の穀果や根、木の葉と実、昆虫のほか、カモシカの幼獣などをとらえて食べる。40～100頭の複雄群をつくる。ドグエラヒヒやチャクマヒヒをも含めてサバンナヒヒとよばれることもある。
