Japanese: 頸管炎 - けいかんえん（英語表記）cervicitis

The cervix is a tube-like cervical cavity that lies between the vagina and the uterine body and connects the two cavities, and its inner surface is covered with cervical glandular epithelium. This refers to inflammation of this cervical lining. The main pathogens are common pyogenic bacteria and gonococci. It causes an increase in stubborn yellow, purulent or white vaginal discharge. Treatment involves bacterial testing and the local and systemic administration of antibiotics. In many cases, the condition becomes chronic, and cervical cryosurgery or even cervical resection may be necessary. [Izumi Rikuichi]

腟と子宮体部との間にあって両者の内腔を交通させている管状の子宮頸部内腔が頸管であり，その内面は頸管腺上皮で覆われている。この頸管内膜の炎症をいう。病原菌としては一般の化膿菌や淋菌が主である。黄色膿様あるいは白色の頑固な帯下の増加をきたす。治療としては，細菌検査を行い抗生物質の局所ならびに全身投与を行う。慢性化したものが多く，頸管の冷凍手術さらには頸管部の切除などが必要となることがある。【泉陸一】
