Yabu [town] - Yoka

Japanese: 八鹿[町] - ようか

A former town in Yabu County in northern Hyogo Prefecture. The main settlement at the confluence of the Maruyama River and its tributary, the Yagi River, is served by the San'in Main Line and National Route 9, and is the bus transportation hub of the Tajima region. It is the home of Tajima beef, and also has a large livestock complex for pigs and broilers. It also produces cedar seedlings, sweetfish, and silk textiles. In April 2004, it merged with Yabu Town, Oya Town, and Sekinomiya Town in Yabu County to form Yabu City. 77.06 ^km2 . Population: 11,812 (2003).

兵庫県北部，養父(やぶ)郡の旧町。円山(まるやま)川と支流八木川の合流点にある主集落は山陰本線と国道９号線が通じ，但馬(たじま)地方のバス交通の中心地。但馬牛の本場で，豚・ブロイラーの大規模な畜産団地もある。スギ苗，アユ，絹織物なども産する。2004年４月養父郡養父町，大屋町，関宮町と合併し，養父市となる。77.06km²。１万1812人（2003）。
