Crested Sifaka - Crested Sifaka

...A general term for a prosimian of the genus Sifaka, a primate of the Indriidae family closely related to the Indri. The genus Sifaka is made up of two species, the Crested Sifaka Propithecus diadema and the Verreaux's Sifaka P. verreauxi (illustration), each of which is divided into many subspecies based on significant variations in body color, and there is some debate as to whether they should be grouped together into two species. However, the former is found in the humid areas along the east coast of Madagascar, while the latter is found in the drier areas along the west coast, and their distribution areas do not overlap.
