Crown Island

An island located about 10 km north-northwest of Cape Naryu in northern Kyoto Prefecture. Its circumference is about 4 km. It belongs to Maizuru City, but is uninhabited. It is also called Oshima, and together with the neighboring island of Kutsujima (small island), it is also called Okinoshima. It is part of Wakasa Bay Quasi-National Park, and due to the influence of the Tsushima Warm Current, it has a virgin forest of warm-climate broadleaf trees. It has also been designated a national natural monument as a breeding ground for streaked shearwaters. The area around the island is a popular diving spot.

京都府北部、成生(なりゅう)岬北北西約10キロメートルにある島。周囲約4キロメートル。舞鶴(まいづる)市に属するが無人島である。大島ともよばれ、隣接する沓島(くつじま)（小島）とあわせて沖の島とも称する。若狭湾(わかさわん)国定公園の一部で、対馬(つしま)暖流の影響で暖地性広葉樹の原生林をなし、またオオミズナギドリの繁殖地として国の天然記念物に指定されている。島の周辺はダイビングの人気ポイントとなっている。
