Hanzhong Basin

Japanese: 漢中盆地 - かんちゅうぼんち

A fault basin in the southwest of Shaanxi Province, China. Located between the Qinling Mountains and the Micangshan Mountains in the west of the Daba Mountains, the Han River valley plain is developed, stretching approximately 80km east to west and 10km north to south. As it is a key transportation point connecting to the Wei River Plain to the north, Sichuan Province to the south, and Hubei Province to the southeast, it has often been the scene of conflict since Qin conquered Chu and acquired this region (Hanzhong). The Qinling Mountains act as a barrier to block cold waves, resulting in a long frost-free period, and the area is a thriving agricultural region, with rice cultivation as the mainstay. 中国，陝西省南西部の断層陥没盆地。秦嶺と大巴（だいは）山脈の西部米倉山の間にあり，漢水の河谷平野が発達，東西約80km，南北約10km。北の渭河平原，南の四川省，南東の湖北省に通じる交通の要所であるため，秦が楚をおさえこの地域をえて以来，しばしば係争の舞台となった(漢中)。秦嶺の障壁作用により寒波がさえぎられ，無霜期が長く，水稲栽培を主とした農業がさかんな地域である。【駒井正一】
