Kanchuuki - Kanchuuki

Japanese: 勘仲記 - かんちゅうき
Kanchuuki - Kanchuuki

Also known as "Kalenaka Kyoki." This is the diary of Middle Counselor Kadenokoji (Fujiwara) Kanenaka (1244-1308). The name of the diary was given by posterity by taking one character from each of his family name and the name of the writer. The diary covers the period from 1268 (Bun'ei 5) to 1300 (Shoan 2), and many of the intermediate parts have been lost. Kanenaka served as a benkan (official official) and kurodo (secretary) who handled documents at the Imperial Court, and so it includes articles about events that occurred at the time. It is famous for its articles about the Mongol invasion, the abolition of the Kamakura Shogunate, and the conflict between the Daikakuji and Jimyoin lines. A handwritten version is currently on display at the Toyo Bunko Library. It is included in "Shiryo Taisei." The handwritten version also has a document on the back of the paper, which is included in "Kamakura Ibun." His father, Tsunemitsu, also wrote the Minkei-ki (also known as Tsunemitsu-kyo-ki).
