Indirect assimilation policy

Japanese: 間接型同化政策 - かんせつがたどうかせいさく
Indirect assimilation policy

...a policy by a dominant group to assimilate other groups into its own culture. The subject of this policy is a group of politically, economically, and culturally dominant powers, and its objects are ethnic minority groups or dominated (ethnic) groups. In general, assimilation refers to the process of uneven cultural interaction and fusion between a dominant group and a dominated group. In this respect, it differs from "cultural transformation" that is brought about by contact with a different cultural group and under its influence. Assimilation policies have been implemented in various forms throughout history in conjunction with the conquest of other nations and ethnic groups, but a typical example is the colonial management of modern nation states.
