...A waistband worn under a woman's skirt to make the back of her waist stick out, called a tournure in France. The waistband called the cul de Paris (Parisian bottom), which was popular at the end of the Baroque and Rococo periods, also belongs to this type, but its shape changed with the trends of fashion. In the history of clothing, the bustle was established as a style between 1870 and 1876 and between 1880 and 1887, after the decline of the crinoline in the 1860s.
