This old town is in Nishikasugai County, in the central Nobi Plain in western Aichi Prefecture. The Shinkawa River, dug in the Tenmei era for flood control, flows through the town. It is an industrial area bordering the northwest of Nagoya City, and machinery manufacturing is thriving. Horticulture, including flowers, is also practiced. The central Sugaguchi district is the junction of the Meitetsu Main Line and the Tsushima Line. In July 2005, it was merged with Nishibiwajima Town and Kiyosu Town in Nishikasugai County to become a city, forming Kiyosu City. Area: 4.70 km2 . Population: 18,417 (2003). 愛知県西部,濃尾平野中部の西春日井(にしかすがい)郡の旧町。洪水調節のため天明年間に掘られた新川が流れる。名古屋市の北西に接する工場地帯で,機械工業が盛ん。花卉(かき)などの園芸農業も行われる。中心の須ヶ口地区は名鉄本線と津島線の分岐点。2005年7月西春日井郡西枇杷島町,清洲町と合併し市制,清須市となる。4.70km2。1万8417人(2003)。
