River mouth - Kako

A Yao Autonomous County in the southeastern tip of Yunnan Province in southwest China. It belongs to the Red River Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. It has a population of 97,682 (2010). It was developed during the Han dynasty as a key border point leading to present-day Vietnam. It was incorporated as a city in 1950, changed to a county in 1955, and became an autonomous county in 1963. It is the terminus of the Kunming Line (Kunming - river mouth) and a junction with the railway to Hanoi. It is located in a basin on the Yuanjiang River (Red River, Song Khoi River) and has a warm and humid climate, making it a popular place for the cultivation of rice, corn, bananas, pineapples, and other crops.

中国南西部、雲南(うんなん)省南東端にあるヤオ族自治県。紅河(こうが)ハニ族イ族自治州に属する。人口9万7682（2010）。漢代から現在のベトナム地方に通じる国境の要地として開けた。1950年に市制が施行されたが、1955年に県に改められ、1963年に自治県となった。昆河線（昆明(こんめい)―河口）の終点であり、ハノイへ向かう鉄道との連絡地である。元江（紅河、ソン・コイ川）沿岸の盆地にあり、気候が温暖湿潤であるため、米、トウモロコシのほか、バナナ、パイナップルなどの栽培が盛んである。
