Aerosol inhalation therapy or nebulization therapy is a device that generates a fine mist containing medicine (→ aerosol). Ultrasonic vibrations and high-velocity airflow are applied to medicinal liquids such as mucolytics, bronchodilators, and antibiotics to create a mist of fine particles several micrometers in size, which is then sprayed into the airways and delivered to the bronchi and alveoli.
