Kawauchi
The former city area in the west of Satsumasendai City, in the northwest of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is located in the Kawauchi Plain. It was incorporated as a city in 1940. In 1951, Mizuhiki Village was incorporated, in 1956 Takae Village and Nagatoshi Village were incorporated, in 1957 part of Shimo Togo Village, and in 1965 Takajo Town was incorporated. In 2004, it merged with Hiwaki Town, Iriki Town, Togo Town, Kedoin Town, Sato Village, Kamikoshiki Village, Shimokoshiki Village, and Kashima Village to form Satsumasendai City. The central city area of ​​Kawauchi was the location of the provincial capital and Kokubunji temple of Satsuma Province in ancient times, and developed early on as a river port on the Kawauchi River. Its main industries are agriculture and manufacturing, and its agricultural products include rice, sweet potatoes, scallions, and burdock, and livestock is also raised here. The main industries are ceramics, paper, and food. The coastal area of ​​Kawauchi Port is home to Kyushu Electric Power's nuclear power plant and thermal power plant, making it an energy supply base for southern Kyushu. The ruins of Satsuma Kokubunji Temple are a national historic site. Nitta Shrine has a bronze mirror that is a national important cultural property. The Nagatoshi Ogatamanoki tree is a national natural monument.

Kawauchi

A district in the eastern Matsuyama Plain in central Ehime Prefecture. Former town name. In 1955, Kawakami Village and Sannai Village merged to form Kawauchi Village, and in 1956, part of Nakagawa Village was incorporated to form a town. In September 2004, it merged with Shigenobu Town to form Toon City. Agriculture and forestry are carried out, mainly citrus cultivation, but in recent years factories producing electrical products have been established. With the construction of National Route 11 and other factors, the western part has developed particularly as a residential area for Matsuyama City. The central settlement, Kawakami, is a key transportation hub connecting Matsuyama, Niihama, and Omogo. There are scenic spots such as Shiraino Falls and Karasaki Falls. The habitat of Okichimozuku seaweed in Oyoshizumi is a natural monument.

Kawauchi

The town is located in the western part of Mutsu City, on the north shore of Mutsu Bay in the Shimokita Peninsula in northern Aomori Prefecture. It was established as a town in 1917 and was incorporated into Mutsu City in 2005. Forestry is the main industry, but fishing in the bay is also thriving. Yunokawa Onsen is located overlooking the Yunokawa River, a tributary of the Kawauchi River.

川内
かわうち

愛媛県中部,松山平野東部にある地区。旧町名。 1955年川上村と三内村が合体して川内村となり,1956年中川村の一部を編入して町制。 2004年9月,重信町と合併し,東温市となる。柑橘類の栽培を中心に農林業が行なわれるが,近年電機製品などの工場が進出している。国道 11号線の整備などで,西部は松山市の住宅地として特に発展。中心集落の川上は松山,新居浜,面河を結ぶ交通の要地。白猪滝,唐岬滝などの景勝地がある。お吉泉のオキチモズク発生地は天然記念物。

青森県北部,下北半島にある陸奥湾北岸,むつ市西部の旧町域。 1917年町制。 2005年むつ市に編入。林業が中心をなすが,湾内での漁業も盛んである。川内川支流の湯野川に臨んで,湯野川温泉がある。
