A powerful clan in ancient Iran. They were one of the seven major families that ruled the country under the Arsacid dynasty of the Parthian Empire, and owned large tracts of land, mainly in the Nehavand region. Even during the Sassanid period, they maintained their privileged position as the fourth of the seven major princes.
