Carvacrol

5-isopropyl-2-methylphenol. C ₁₀ H ₁₄ O(150.21). One of the essential oil components. Found in origanum oil and camphor oil, it is widely found in the plant kingdom. Melting point 0.5-1°C, boiling point 237°C. 0.976. 1.5205-1.5240. Has a phenol-like odor, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether. Used in soap fragrances and in the manufacture of medicated cosmetics. [CAS 499-75-2]
