Soil that has developed from soft, unconsolidated sediments that have been transported by some force. This includes alluvial soils derived from river, marine, and lacustrine deposits, and soils on diluvial plateaus. Andosols, which have developed from volcanic ash, are also an important type of accumulation soil in Japan. Soils derived from aeolian loess, which do not exist in Japan, are representative accumulation soils on continents north of the temperate zone in the Northern Hemisphere. Sand dune soils in arid regions and on coasts are also included. [Mitsuchi Masanori] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
