...His ancestor is said to be Mitsumasa, the younger brother of Tada Mitsunaka, and during the time of Shigefusa, he lived in Ogawa Village, Chita County, Owari Province, and took the name Ogawa, but later moved to Mizuno, Kasugai County, and changed his name to Mizuno. Sadamori, who died in 1487 (Chokyo 1), built a castle in Kariya, Mikawa Province, and thereafter, successive generations of his family made Kariya and Ogawa castles their bases. Tadamasa's daughter, Odai no Kata (Denzuin), who was active during the Tenbun period (1532-55), married Matsudaira Hirotada of Okazaki in the same province and gave birth to Tokugawa Ieyasu, but they were divorced when the Mizuno clan sided with the Oda clan, which was hostile to the Matsudaira clan. ...
