Year of death: 23 January 1499 (4 March 1499) Year of birth: Kakitsu 1 (1441) A military commander in the Sengoku period. He was the second son of Mochitoyo and the younger brother of Noritoyo. Following the death of his elder brother Noritoyo, who had succeeded him as head of the family before the Onin War, in September 1467, he inherited the family headship and the territories including Tajima. During the great war, his father Mochitoyo, who was the commander-in-chief of the Western Army, died, and the following year in 1474, he made peace with Hosokawa Masamoto (son of Katsumoto), the commander-in-chief of the Eastern Army, and was appointed as the guardian of Tajima and Yamashiro. After the war, he pacified Inaba and Hoki, and from the 12th year of the same year onwards, he fought a fierce battle with Akamatsu Masanori in an attempt to retake Harima, Mimasaka, and Bizen, but failed, and in 1488, he withdrew his troops.
