[Birth] Hee-nyeong 10 (1077) [Died] Shaoxing 18 (1148) Chinese politician and man of letters in the late Northern Song and early Southern Song dynasty. Born in Wu County, Suzhou (Jiangsu Province). His pen name was Shaoyun. His pen name was Shilin. In the second year of the Great View period (1108), he became a Hanlin scholar, but was demoted due to conflicts with the powerful Cai Jing. After the Jingkang Incident, he became Minister of Household Affairs and submitted petitions on strategies to counter the Jin Dynasty. He continued to make many proposals after that, but he did not get along with others, and he resigned as a military commander of the Chongxin Army. He was skilled in both poetry and prose, and after moving south during the Song dynasty, he became second only to Chen Yoyi in literary fame. His main works include Shilin Shiwa, Shilin Yango, Summer Records of Tales, and Shilin Jiankang Collection.
