Kariya - Kariya

...There are two types of birthing huts: those in which a special birthing hut is set up, and those in which births take place at home. Birthing huts are called debeya, taya, himaya, kariya, etc., and some also serve as menstruation huts. In either case, due to the taboo of childbirth, women lived by a separate fire for fear of damaging the fire in the house.
