Galatea (place name) - Galatea

Japanese: ガラティア(地名) - がらてぃあ
Galatea (place name) - Galatea

…the name of the northern region of Asia Minor. Ethnologically, it refers to the northeastern part of Asia Minor where the Gauls (Celts) who migrated from Italy via Greece in the 3rd century BC settled. It was later conquered by Rome in 189 BC, and became the name of a wider region including the original Galatia (Galatia) as a Roman province, as well as the southern regions such as Phrygia, Pisidia, Lycaonia, and Isauria. There are two theories about whether the Apostle Paul's Epistle to the Galatians was addressed to Galatia itself (the northern theory) or to Galatia as a Roman province (the southern theory).
